A question for our US friends really, just wondering if you use Crypto day to day at companies that offer payment by this route?
Something jolted in my memory whilst at the Cinema the other day that AMC, made news a year or so ago about taking cryptocurency payments (BTC/LTC/ETH). They also sell giftcards via Bitpay and accept Doge.
But I can't see any update on how this has gone, if it's used and adopted better or if it's just almost a 'gimmick' of the chain to appeal to it's retail investors back in the memestock heyday.
The CEO tweeted when it was announced something that seemed bullish at first, reading as if 14% of online transactions were from Crypto..
"Big newsflash! As promised, many new ways NOW to pay online at AMC. We proudly now accept: drumroll, please⦠Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal. Incredibly, they already account for 14% of our total online transactions! Dogecoin next."
But I think reading it properly it means Crypto/Apple Pay/Google Pay/Paypal combined account for 14% of their total transactions?
TechCrunch had an article in April last year pointing otu that the AMC App now accepts DOGE/SHIB
There's also other large companies in the US like Starbucks and Wholefoods that take payments so just wondering if people do actually pay with Crypto or not?
It seems a good thing that would only help adoption, but I'm not sure how easy it is to do with this companies or the fees involved, or if there are third party apps involved.
I was just interested in people's experiences, as it seems pretty big to me places like Wholefoods taking payments this way
