Governments structurally don’t have the will to ban bitcoin?

What politician would it benefit running on banning bitcoin? Are there any lobbyists who are anti-bitcoin? Seems like very little political pressure to ban bitcoin

This risk of outright ban by the government seems very limited, but often you hear the governments are not going to just let it happen. They will never take the risk of losing power over the monetary system.

But what would be the actual mechanism for banning bitcoin, could it just be an executive order ? That’s what happened to gold.

Or would there need to be an act in congress ?

Additionally, how can you ban bitcoin in the US, when that just pushes mining and potential global monetary asset to be “based” in other countries.

The ability, in my opinion, to coordinate a global ban on bitcoin is much less likely than a cascade of bitcoin held on the balance sheet of developed governments. Once one developed government starts acquiring bitcoin as a reserve. Others have to follow suit just for the insurance in case Bitcoin does became a global monetary asset. A natural self-fulfilling prophecy.

Would like to hear the salient argument how a developed government bans bitcoin in practice
