Many of the really good jobs have a lengthy interview process, often requiring you to demonstrate skills that take several hours of your time, along with several interviews. My brother is a programmer and works for a big US company, and his interviews at Amazon and Facebook were insane. I think like 5 interviews and 3 tests demonstrating competence. He has a great job now, but not getting those jobs were hard on him, given the amount of time/effort he put in. He must’ve been very close to landing them. My current job required a 3 hour competency test and 2 interviews, and I would’ve been super bummed if I didn’t get it. I put my soul into that shit lol
