Has Norway Looked into BTC Mining Paired w/Carbon Capture? ????

Just asking because the interesting video below seems to make it the obvious question… ????

If Norway is the adult in the room and the most stable petro-enabled democratic nation… and they can run nearly everything the country needs off of renewables… then what responsible action do they take when the world curtails oil usage?

The obvious answer would be to ask foreign investors to setup BTC & carbon capture projects in Norway, then hand the infrastructure over to the govt in 60-80 yrs like they do with oil drilling and refining.

BTC mining is obvious because with hydro, wind and tidal energy they can create massive infrastructure that pays for itself and creates new, dedicated supply for BTC mining.

Then, if you’re 95% renewable energy sources for domestic consumption (and have tons of EVs), your country probably wants to do its part to reduce atmospheric carbon.

Why not, too? If you’ve got fluctuating capacity that runs a certain amount of miners consistently, it’s easy to divert the surplus to run a variable amount of carbon capture equipment to use the excess energy.

If it’s cheap enough, folks may not mind paying Norway for carbon credits. The country probably doesn’t want to do carbon capture out of the kindness of its heart. ????????‍♂️

Regardless, BTC will be working halvings for another ~140 yrs. I’ll shy away from any further hypotheticals after that, as tempting as they may be…

I’ll welcome other viewpoints, and potential for implementation in other countries. Extra points for ridiculous hypotheticals. ???? Negative points if you simply mention the Bitcoin volcano in El Salvador. Cool, but old news.

P.S. In all fairness, Norway was already punching above its weight on BTC as of 2022. They had over 1% of worldwide BTC hash rate, with only 0.08% of the world’s population, using 100% renewable energy.

It’s probably even more now… maybe my independent hypothetical has already been realized. ????It looks like a single Norway carbon capture project comes online this year, and is forecasted to capture 1.5 million tons of carbon.

Maybe they’ve even connected the dots between the two activities. Maybe I’ve unintentionally given them free advertising.

Go Norway! ???????? I’m so impressed
