Scrolling through this subreddit in particular, I've seen so many users with these reddit NFT avatars. Makes sense seeing as this is a crypto forum, but the overall internet reaction was very negative when these were announced. Regardless, a lot of us here have learned to ignore the outside noise and continue to rock them. Partly because they look cool, but mainly because people love the idea of ownership. Some will pay extortionate amounts for pieces of modern art that took very little effort to make. Why? Because of a sense of status, ownership, wealth, etc.
Digital art gives you that sense of ownership and more. This was always going to happen. NFTs are the new global digital art market of the world. Before their existence, ownership of digital art was largely limited to commercial purposes. NFTs allow you to have a verifiably unique item, security, and self-custody. They also provide access to a community (in this example, Reddit). I for one love these avatars.
