Aside from the moon, Bitcoin is pretty much earth bound. The 10 minute block times are too fast and light is too slow. Verifications will take too long to go back and forth between Mars. So Mars would need a new Bitcoin.
But how can that be done? The Satoshi origin is basically impossible to recreate. There was no block reward for the first block, and every step of Bitcoin's evolution is critical to its absolute fairness. I can't see how a truly fair immutable record of truth can be plugged into a new society.
Could a new version of Bitcoin be started on earth where a chunk of earth's hash rate begins mining the first MBTC block? An earth bound miner would get the first MBTC but the second block immediately starts hashing only on mars.
Or is Mars doomed to being a shitcoin economy?
