I've put down some crude maths for those people who want to know what top 1% in the world looks like from a Bitcoin wealth perspective.
For context: My strategy is that I want to own enough bitcoin to say I'm in the top 1%. That just happens to be about 5% of my liquid Net Wealth and is now my bitcoin strategy.
Anyway, to the numbers.......!
Bitcoins in circulation = 19.7 million
Less Satoshi's stash (I assume he/her/them will never sell)
= 18.6 million bitcoins as of today.
Assume 8 billion people on the planet and there was an even distribution (bell curve), the median person would own 0.002325 BTC
Assume US$100K per bitcoin (yes I know, it's a little bit less than that at the moment) -- US$232 worth of bitcoin per person.
Now, multiply that by 100x if you want to be in the top 1% of that distribution curve = $US23,200
Apply some rounding and you pretty much become a "quarter coiner".
Enjoy and thanks for reading
Edit - tweaked slightly as realised made a critical maths mistake.
