How to create a new ETH wallet to transfer funds from the old one? (After LastPass breach.)

Let me explain. A few years back I did some GPU mining and got a few ETH coins. I set up my wallet at the time using a software wallet and kept all the info for it (private key and the backup phrase) in my LastPass vault.

Now I’m sure you know that LastPass got owned a big time a year or so back and all user vaults were stolen. Albeit encrypted, anyone with enough time and GPU resources can crack them with time. Moreover, LastPass was not encrypting URLs in their vaults so whoever stole the data can parse it for crypto URLs and try to brute force vaults selectively.

And this is what seems to be happening. Here’s a blogpost.

I don’t have a lot in ETH but still I don’t want to lose it. So since I learned about the LastPass breach I switched all my passwords to another password manager and changed almost all of them. (Yeah it took over a month.)

But I cannot change my ETH private key and the secret phrase. So I was wondering if I can create a new wallet and transfer my funds there? If so what would you recommend?

I don’t want anything that anyone is managing for me. So no coinbase types. I want to keep my own private key.

PS. Sorry for possibly stating the obvious. I haven’t dealt with crypto for a while and am really behind the curve.
