For those who don’t know, a Lifetime ISA (LISA) is a savings account available in the UK which is tax free and for every £4,000 you put in the UK government gives you an extra £1,000 (there are some other T&C’s but I won’t get into that here). You can have cash and/or stocks etc. in these accounts.
There is an Exchange Traded Product (ETP) tracking bitcoin (XBT Provider by CoinShares) which is available on the platform I hold my LISA with (Hargreaves Lansdown if you’re interested). But they charge a hefty 2.5% annual fee (on top of a ≈0.5% annual fee from the platform). Also one share of this ETP is ≈£1000, making small frequent purchases infeasible for me (you cannot buy fractional shares on Hargreaves Lansdown).
So, my question is: what stocks give exposure to bitcoin?
Here’s what I’m thinking: MicroStrategy and Coinbase as well as Bitcoin mining companies such as Riot Platforms, Marathon Digital Holdings, Cipher Mining, and Hut 8 Mining.
Let me know if I’m missing anything. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
