How to get started with self directed Roth?

I've been wanting to move an old Ira account into a Roth Ira type account like I trust capital or to do a self directed ira that i can hold some bitcoin and alt coins.

I trust capital Pro: ease of setup and cost Con: fees build up over time, don't hold my keys

Self directed Pro: own my keys, more freedom Con: I believe this needs a lawyer and has a much larger starting fee.

For those that have done I trust, what's your experience?

For those that have done self directed, who did you contact to get started, how much was your startup cost, do you recommend having an LLC, and lastly are you happy with your choice to do self directed?
