I am sorry but how are L2‘s already (or ever) a viable solution?

As long as you can’t transfer between different L2‘s how do they help? Say I’d like to buy cards in gods unchained. I would have to buy ETH somewhere (yes okay I can withdraw to Arbitrum) then move that ETH to L1 again to then move it onto the Immutable L2, purchase my card pack, and then if I wanted to use a different Dapp not supporting Immutable, I would have to do the whole L1 - L2 carousel again, right? And for future adoption: are we really expecting that John Smith is going to have the patience to read into which L2 he now needs to buy those NFT nudes and how to bridge his ETH from his L2 to another? John Smith doesn’t care about centralization, he just wants to 1: purchase ETH, 2: Use that ETH everywhere.
