I can tell you what the next big thing in crypto will be (HINT: It’s Bitcoin)

Last year we were introduced to DeFi on Ethereum. With only $20bn invested in DeFi at the start of 2021, the scene has absolutely taken off with the current DeFi market cap at $152bn and still growing.

Investors have pretty much moved away from Ethereum DeFi coins at this point. Uniswap tokens are no longer seen as “hot” and have been replaced by NFT’s and GameFi tokens via Metaverse hype. But DeFi tokens have been KILLING IT on other chains like BSC, LUNA, AVAX, SOL and others.

This will still continue with chains like AVAX recently breaking its ATH and new protocols and tokens still coming to it. Same with LUNA, which is set to see a huge influx of GameFi developers over the next 12 months.

But as we know, crypto is all about HYPE. That’s why tokens like SHIB and all the other meme coins have made as much gains as they have. So, where will the next crypto hype come from?

Introducing: DeFi on Bitcoin

The recent taproot network upgrade added new functionality to Bitcoin, by expanding its programmability. Developers will now be able to build smart contracts on the Bitcoin blockchain.

DeFi on Bitcoin for the first time. Do you understand what that means? I think it’s a no brainer that projects will flock to the biggest and most secure chain in crypto and HYPE will follow them.

Having smart contracts on Bitcoin will only add to its market cap and VC’s like Coinbase Ventures, Arrington Capital, Panthers Capital, Alameda Research are already onto it.
