I've been sitting on a very small (less than 0.1) Ethereum wallet for some four years. I think all I did was mine for a bit and then forget about it. Turns out I really need that money, even if it's not much.
I have a Coinbase account, and that's how I plan to sell it. The trick seems to be in getting the Ethereum into the Ethereum wallet that Coinbase set up for me. They gave me the public address for the wallet. I don't know what steps to take to send my current wallet's contents. I have the public key and the private key for that wallet.
Probably most importantly, I don't know what the safe way to do this would be. I think I've gotten as far as: Grab the MetaMask plugin. But what then? How do I make MetaMask aware of my existing wallet, and how is that not something that somebody could easily hack? Is this even necessary?
Sorry for the newbie questions.
