I just watched a video that reminded me that cryptos (btc in particular) was originally never meant to become this pump & dump, bear/bull instruments we have agonizingly turned them into, which made me sad & think about whether all this is slowing down th

I'm in the subway now and yeah, I have little time to gather my thoughts but just wanted to post this.

Here is the vid I watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLYOB38_Gas I am kind of sad now. It is definitely a very cool thing to say that the blockchain is an amazing technology, but all this unintelligent hype that has surrounded the crypto bull and bear markets for the last several years has given rise to so many people saying it exactly like how parrots would, without knowing what they are talking about. The blockchain has the power to transform whole political systems, and was definitely a product of minds that were hoping to do so one day, but here we are, having been talking about stupid daily losses and wins and bulls and bears for the last like 6 or 7 years, like that's what this is all about. Like that's what this whole thing was was made for: Turning it into just another financial instrument that sucks. It's like spoiling and breaking a child prodigy with bad parenting, turning them into a failed adult.

I sometimes wish the technology could continue to be developed in seclusion (it actually is though but you know what I mean), in a way that the public would only be made aware of the developments of the technology itself with no emphasis on the stupid markets surrounding it, with no such markets in existence at all. Like, is there a worldwide famous hype market around nanotechnology? No. I understand that's not a good comparison because cryptos are a financial asset but still, we people simply ruin the emphasis on the technology thanks to these markets. There could have been a much larger emphasis on the sound fact that cryptos are also extremely political assets, not just financial.

Then again, yeah, maybe this is how things should be, with the hype and all that chaos surrounding the 'unknown'. Maybe that's how it is. But did it have to be unknown though? The blockchain technology is not really that complicated if you've actually understood some of the original BTC white paper. Rocket science is way more complicated, and there's no stupid hype surrounding it.

So what do you guys think about all that? I'd be happy to spur a discussion. Would the technology develop faster without the hype, or is it just good the way it is? The video I watched is (while an odd one at what it does) a good watch btw, I'd recommend.
