As the world of blockchain enters a new phase the introduction of "metaverse" identities such as Reddit Collectible Avatars are finding unlikely footing in the online world.
These avatars are something I personally didn't care about when they were released, but as time goes along I'm beginning to see a level of interaction with Reddit that I've never before experienced in my 10 odd years on this website.
For the first time i'm seeing *people* and not just random (and often funny) names above a post. My fellow Redditors have an identity.
It's a strange concept to see any value in something like an avatar, yet we live in a society that often idolises expensive fashion and unique art, so I guess it's no surprise that as younger generations begin to take the mantle of global culture that we see a more integrated world of digital asset ownership in our daily lives.
After all, Bitcoin and Ethereum have already changed worldwide concepts of money and asset ownership.
I'm excited to see the world that this bear market's innovation brings...
