I struggle to see how ethereum is useful and will ever see use beyond speculation until the bubble bursts

I've held some for years and I'm doing a university course on blockchain right now. So far, nothing has convinced me the technology ever have a real world application. Blockchain technology and ether have been around for quite some time now and I've never heard about a single succesful product or innovation which provides utility.

Does someone have an actual example of a real world usecase? I'm not talking about hypotheticals. I'm talking about actual real world businesses or services reliant on ethereum/blockchain which provide a service superior to non-blockchain alternatives.
