I think Moons have helped this community more than they hurt it.

Hey y'all!

On more than one occasion, I've seen folks mention how Moons have ultimately made r/CryptoCurrency a messy, shallow place where folks only come here to farm moons. Although that's certainly a "problem" that plagues our sub, I don't think it's made it worse than any other subreddit or social media platform.

Are there plenty of posts made simply looking to farm moons for profit? Of course. It's a byproduct of our self-inflicted rat race. But for every shitpost, I see:

• A newcomer who may not have contributed without incentive to do so, suddenly becoming an active member of our community. Asking questions, thinking critically and being creative.
• Veterans of our community posting very detailed analysis on a variety of topics, from Moons to new projects, updates on OG projects and tips or reminders about things many of us might forget about, like the Arbitrum airdrop (and many scams attaching themselves to it) and the launch of Reddit avatars. There was also an interesting post analyzing the psyche of a redditor.
• Moon Whales like u/GabeSter and u/meeleen223 that have been doing their best to get others involved in the ecosystem, and the many others that have helped by contributing many Moons to the cause.
• Other whales like u/LATech99 that have been quietly tipping moons and bricks to anyone that contributes positively to the community. I've personally been tipping anyone I see that hasn't ever received a Moon before, just to get them started.
• Fun projects made by folks like u/ominous_anenome, who do it for the love of the community!

Is this an unpopular opinion? Have Moons made a positive, neutral or negative impact on the community? I guess things could change when we inevitably transition from a bear to a bull cycle, but what are your thoughts?
