To any of the newbies to this sub, simple message that cannot be stressed enough;

If it looks like a scam, it almost definitely is, and at the minimum, ask about it here before doing anything in response.

Most crypto scams are surface level and easy to spot.

-Anybody saying you need to give them some crypto to get more crypto is trying to scam you

-Anyone who is messaging you and begging for crypto to try and get out of a “terrible” situation is trying to scam you

-Anyone who promises that they will make you lots of money really fast by trusting them with your crypto is trying to scam you

-Any coin that promises you hundreds of percent in annual or weekly gains is going to rug you

-Any app or site or window or person requiring your seed phrase is trying to scam you.

Some scams are more complex, and can be pretty convincing, so you need to be on guard. Spend enough time in this sub, and you’ll see some pretty wily scams like ones where they send your wallet large amounts of crypto tied to smart contacts that steal your crypto when you sell the Trojan crypto.

Some will give your computer malware that will take you to a clone of an exchange that will steal your seed phrase, address, etc.

Some will even give you small amounts of crypto to lure you into a bigger trap.

The old adage always applies: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

In crypto, you are better off replacing the word probably with definitely.
