I'm a Canadian, is there a way I can use PayPal to buy some Eth for a friend in the US?

Hihi I've got some USD sitting in a PayPal account of mine that I would like to send to a buddy in the US, but, he doesn't use PayPal (I think he had some issues with them a while back and refuses to use them ever again? Something like that).

He does use crypto and told me he can convert Eth into cash. He's currently homeless but uses a phone at the library, sucks. I would use my usual Canadian exchange but it's lol $30 to transfer (0.0099 Eth fee) to some external wallet.

I was thinking if there's a way to simply purchase crypto using my PayPal money, I could put his wallet as the address and that could work?

While I don't consider myself a newbie with crypto, I've only ever bought and stacked. Never transferred any to someone, especially in this way haha

Maybe I am still a newbie.
