When news articles get posted here about how big, old and traditional (financial) institutions are looking into adopting crypto, they usually get a positive reaction here. My first reaction is the same. More adoption, especially by big players, can only be beneficial to us, right? On the one hand, this might be the only way mass adoption can ever be achieved.
On the other hand, I feel like the common sentiment here is that crypto should be part of a revolution that challenges the traditional (financial) system. Allowing control to be put back into the hands of the people and increasing privacy and trust. Especially third world countries that have been screwed over for decades seem to be adopting crypto the fastest and I hope it works out for them.
Still, when a bullish article about a traditional institution gets posted here, we mostly support it. Obviously it would help us increase the value of our bags! But is this what we really want?
I am interested to hear how you would imagine an ideal future where crypto is a major part of everyday life. Wouldn't it be better to leave them behind?
Edit: Many people are saying that we need them for mass adoption, but what really changes then? How will it be better from how it is now?
