Is buying altcoins really worth it? Is BTC the only true crypto investment choice?

With the recent rugpullls and drama, I've been thinking. Is it really still worth it buying altcoins?

I can somehow understand the case for ETH, it's a certified crypto giant with no signs of going anywhere. But this recent events had me thinking, honestly, the very same can happen to virtually any altcoin, ETH included. And they go extinct from one moment to another, sometimes even taking minutes to completely die out, which is worrying to me as a crypto enthusiast. Despite that, I understand the risks and still decide to keep participating in crypto related ventures, I like the tech and the community as a whole.

What do you think about all this? Is BTC the only safe choice now? I look forward to reading your responses.
