Is it important for the average Joe to mine Bitcoin at home?

Thanks to another post I came across the Apollo mining hardware from FutureBit. I guess there are other similar options in the market, and plenty of DIY guides.

Mining my own non-KYC Bitcoin has crossed my mind multiple times, not because I believe it must be a profitable endeavour (I guess it is not with home energy prices and without high-power sockets), but because I like the ideas of contributing to decentralisation and self-sovereignty.

My problem, apart from the obvious (no place at home to put a noisy fan), is that I am a relative bitcoin-noob, and do not fully understand all technicalities around it. Besides, my Bitcoin journey (from first research to setting up a hardware wallet connected to my own full node) has been long, and I fear I could compromise or lose the efforts of my time and money.

What are your thoughts on this?
