I thought that we should avoid talking about "Ethereum 2" and instead, just talk about the improvements described in the Ethereum roadmap.Though, I'm confused because I still see a lot of websites and people referring to "Ethereum 2".

So is it still valid to talk about "Ethereum 2"?

On ethereum.org, we can read about Ethereum roadmap:

The term 'Eth2' was commonly used to describe the future of Ethereum before the switch to proof-of-stake but it was phased out in favor of more precise terminology. It was originally used to differentiate the Ethereum network before the switch to proof-of-stake and the network after, or sometimes to refer to the different Ethereum clients (execution clients were sometimes referred to as ETH1 clients and consensus clients were sometimes referred to as ETH2 clients).

Investopedia updated aligned its content with this new way to talk about Ethereum improvements.

Though, there are still a lot of mentions about "Ethereum 2":

• https://www.coinbase.com/fr/how-to-buy/ethereum-2 : This one is VERY confusing, particularly from a such big actor like Coinbase. Cryto beginners would think that there is indeed a new ETH token for the Ethereum network and could be more susceptible to scam attempts.
• https://consensys.net/knowledge-base/the-merge/ : Consensys, one of the biggest contributorin the Ethereum ecosystem, keep using the expression "Ethereum 2"
• https://www.coindesk.com/tag/ethereum-2-0/
• https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/cryptocurrency/what-is-ethereum-2-merge/ : I know Forbes is not a crypto-oriented media though

Nb: I'm only considering legit content and discussions, not scams that try to sell you some "ETH2" tokens.
