Is the value of Etheruem too dependent on one man?

First of all I don't want this to be a discussion on the level of decentralization of the blockchain. That's a different convo. This is more a fundamental question I was thinking about:

What happens to Ethereum if Vitalik Buterin dies? Or goes to prison? Or something worse happens, like it's discovered that he's a huge pedophile or something. Can ETH continue to hold its value after that?

By "value" I mean fundamental value, i.e. technological innovation, what it can provide for society, etc. I ask this because a lot of the "pros" for investing in ETH at this point is that the future of Ethereum has a lot going for it. As far as I understand, that vision is mostly (or entirely) Vitalik's plans/ideas for the future. Also many people consider him to be in a position similar to CEO of a traditional company. If there is no more Vitalik, what does that mean for the future of the ecosystem?

The only other example of something like this actually happening in the past that comes to the top of my head is Steve Jobs and Apple. The company obviously didn't go bankrupt the day he passed, and of course the company is still successful to this day. But many, including myself, felt that the company really stagnated in terms of technological innovation with Jobs being gone. Would this be the case for Ethereum as well?

This goes without saying, but I in no way wish any harm to Vitalik or anyone working on Ethereum. I also know that these are hypothetical scenarios but any of these things could happen at any time. nothing is impossible.
