My Bitcoin journey started in 2021, with my first purchase when BTC was at $46k.
Over these past 3.5 years, I have spent $165k to acquire 3.25 BTC at an average cost of $52k per coin. Arguably, you can say I am late to Bitcoin.
For a long time, I wondered how things might have been had I been early to Bitcoin - say in 2016 or so when it was trading for $700-800 per coin. Itβs a nice mental fantasy to think that had I spent $165k at an average cost of little over $1k, I would have more than 150 BTC now.
But then, reading many posts here of those who first got into BTC even earlier - say 2012-13 timeframe - it is beginning to dawn on me that I would probably not have 150 BTC.
I would have sold at BTC = $5k and felt like a genius. I probably would not have put in $165k - maybe only $5-10k. Now there is more confidence in Bitcoin.
So, I doubt I would have come out ahead even if I had been early. Just grateful to be sitting on a 100% profit now as Bitcoin price is 2x my cost basis AND seeing that Bitcoin is accelerating in mainstream adoption.
The critical thing is that now I have the awareness that I should hold my corn for 10 more years till the price reaches $500k or maybe even $1M - there is a viable path to reaching market cap of gold as more companies and nation states buy in.
So, HODL on fellow bitcoiners. We may not be early, but we are still holding something of great value which is only becoming more valuable.
