Started buying bitcoin in 2015. Was a long journey to learn what I had with a lot of hard lessons but I was “lucky” to figure out Bitcoin was king before it was too late. Started my journey with 50 Bitcoin (I was a poor recent college grad took a 10k load to buy). In the end, as of yesterday, I managed to hold on to 7.278 Bitcoin, with nearly 800k as of today.
I held this in a Trezor wallet in a safe in my office only with the seed phrase. In retrospect I was a moron not to take more security measures.
I use CoinTracker io for tax purposes and I think the api is delayed because I got an email at 4pm today that I hade made a transaction. I immediately panicked and took out my safe logged into my trezor only to confirm that 100% of my bitcoin was gone. The transaction happened yesterday tho. (I know CoinTracker is NOT to blame just explaining how I learned of the transaction)
The worst part is being able to see the address where the funds are that I don’t control.
Filed a police report today with my town and submitted an internet crime report - I know both are useless but did them anyway.
One of the worst days of my life.
