Koinly really came through

I have a few free minutes between work and an afternoon appointment so just going to bang this out real quick. Back in January I paid for two Koinly packages - the 3k trades pack and the expat pack, totalling around $220, for both 2021 and 2022. So that's a bit over $400 USD.

I made some realised gains on investments last year and I'll definitely be using the 2021 tax statement tools, but for 2022, like many of us, I'm arsed. The way it's looking I'm good for about 2-3k of profits before I'm back in the black and at the point where I need to declare any of my investments in my 2022 tax returns. Oh and did I mention I'm flat broke at the moment? Not really because of crypto, though if I'd kept my money in the bank instead of putting it into crypto late last year I'd either have a nice few thousand dollar buffer in my savings account; or more likely, some absolutely unnecessary piece of technology in my apartment, maybe a high-end overhead projector/screen.

In a hail mary attempt I reached out to Koinly and requested a refund of the 2022 package. That $200 would really come in handy right now. I don't have any debt but it's mid-month and I've currently got about enough money for food and a few trips with the bus, and that is it.

I sent one email on Monday explaining my situation, asking for a refund (important to note I hadn't/haven't generated a single tax report for 2022 yet, but am WELL outside of their 7-day, bug-contingent official return and refund policy). I was very transparent about throwing myself on their mercy. I didn't get an email response, so yesterday I copy pasted the mail into their online chat tool and hit send, also not expecting much at that point.

Within 12 hours an Accounts Team Leader named "Anakin" (and a sweet profile pic of Anakin from the prequels) responded telling me my refund was approved, on its way, and to expect processing to take 6-10 days. TODAY it was already back in my bank account.

To recap, approximately two months after placing an order for a Koinly package for 2022, I sent a chat message asking for a refund well beyond what Koinly is required to provide. 12 hours later I had a response, and 12 hours after that the money was back in my bank account. And now I can relax for this month, no longer really strapped for cash. One less problem to deal with.

Thanks Anakin, and by association Koinly. You restored my faith in people (and corporations I guess? if I'm even allowed to say that?) a little.
