Today, I wanted to transfer some of my XRP from Bittrex to Bybit (for margin trading ofc). Standard procedure, I copy my deposit address and paste it into the withdrawal form. As always, I check the first and last few digits of the address to make sure it is the same as the one I copied. It wasn't.
At first, I thought I must have made a mistake so I copy-paste it again and the same, false address shows up. Tried manually copying the digits and pasting it into a notepad, still same.
After some research, I've found many people had the exact same problem and have even send money to the scammers. Many of them had no idea where the malware came from and neither did I, as I don't visit any sketchy websites. Solving the issue for some included resetting their operating system. Fortunately, I've also stumbled on some people getting advice on forums to scan their computer with Malewarebytes, which worked for me after removing the malware and restarting the computer.
I guess I have to change all my passwords now, but I'm still not calm about the situation. I've also looked up the scammers address (you can find it bellow) and as you can see, there is more than 1 transaction done every minute, some of them as big as 15k XRP.
