Maximalism needs to stop.

What is "Maximalism"?

Maximalism in crypto refers to one's opinion that their coin/chain/project of choice is the only one that will be needed in the future.

But why would that be? Why can't we have multiple chains and tokens that can be used for different purposes? Wouldn't that speed up the adoption process? Wouldn't that make user experience better and easier?

"It is important to have strong convictions when operating in an emerging industry."

It is okay to have strong convictions and opinions regarding your favourite projects while being critical and sceptical about others. This will significantly increase innovation and development in the space.

The problem is that behaviours such as "maximalism" and "tribalism" promote a hostile environment within discussions by crypto supporters, as well as to public opinion. We all want the technology to succeed, we all want to make money, we all want privacy and equality after all, don't we?

It really leaves a sour taste when I am reading crypto related discussions in non-crypto related groups/forums and people are arguing with coin is the best, while the average person is trying to understand whether or not cryptocurrencies can actually be useful to them.

In my opinion, the only way for the technology to succeed and become adopted is interoperability. And no, I am not talking about specific chains or coins here. I am talking about a future where plenty of chains, coins and tokens exist and they can all be used in different scenarios while also being able to interact with each other.

There's nothing to be gained by maximalism behaviour. This only brings out the worst in us, thinking that if we bring someone else down, it will be to our benefit.
