(Maybe?)Unpopular opinion: scammed crypto people are no different than 2000’s internet-scammed people

Maybe it can sound a bit harsh but that actually just financial Darwinism (not really sure it’s a thing) I remember when in the late 2000s (07-08) my mother and her mother asked me about YOU WON THE LOTTERY! Pop up ads a lot, and there were a lot of so called opportunities when the internet wasn’t very well understood by most of the people (at least in my country). And I always wondered who’s stupid enough to fall for those?

And very repetitive bitcoin scams woke me up. If the people are stupid enough to fall for it, they should. It’s simply an important lesson for them and even more importantly a small step for bitcoin (and cryptocurrency) towards adoption. If you would educated yourself enough on bitcoin/internet the likeliness of you getting scammed is near zero. And if you haven’t, you will do so after said lesson. Bitcoin in turn will force the people, the governments who will use it, and the banks to take actions against scams or at least educate the user on how to not lose crypto. (I bet pop-up ads scams are not that profitable these days as they used to be)

Maybe obvious for 99% of this sub but if you are that 1% hear me out.

It doesn’t matter if that’s elon musk,tim cook, jeff bezos or Jesus Christ himself. You can NOT send bitcoin to an address and expect getting double,triple or even the same amount back to your address,(you are not even asked to type your “receive “ address in those scams) cause said “generous celebrity “ does not know where to send it back to. Bitcoin doesn’t work that way, that’s not how any of this works. If anything i just warned you about sounds somewhat new to you, PLEASE go and learn more about this thing holding your precious working hours so it won’t go poof.
