I crunched some numbers and in an hour of browsing and commenting, I make about 20 comments with a total of about 30 upvotes. Let's assume this is a realistic goal for the average member of r/cryptocurrency.
That means a 1.5 karma average per comment. (This is simple and attainable by anyone so a good number to play with.) The distribution rate has been around 0.9 so I'll work with 1.35 moons per comment.
Although, one "Elon is desperate for attention" comment got me 120 upvotes which is a bit ironic. For the particularly savvy and socially adept user it may be possible to net a much higher ratio of upvotes to comments, but I'm thinking more about realistic goals for anyone on the sub.
20 comments per hour is 3 minutes per comment, a reasonable number assuming you are actively participating. Reading posts and comments, thinking a little bit about what you type. Yes, one could comment "DCA and hold" 100 times in an hour but would that really be active participation in the sub?
Moons are currently trading around $0.14 but to keep it simple let's say an average of $0.10
27 moons/hr = $2.7/hr
At this rate I would earn $108 posting on r/cryptocurrency full time (40 hours/week).
If you spend one hour per day actively participating on r/cryptocurrency, you could realistically expect to earn $18 per week, and about $80 per distribution.
Don't quit your day job just yet.
