"Moonshiners" is a reality show that follows people involved in the illegal production of moonshine, a high-proof distilled spirit typically made in secret, often in rural areas. I was recently watching an episode, and something caught my attention. During one scene, a buyer actually offered to pay for a batch of moonshine with Bitcoin.

The reaction to this offer was mixed, with one of the sellers hesitant to accept this form of payment due to typical concerns like high volatility, while the seller's brother was more than happy to accept the cryptocurrency because he understood the value of holding for extra profits. They ultimately accepted this form of payment and immediately converted it to fiat.

This is a show that often portrays cash transactions, so the mention of cryptocurrency was a really exciting to me. It just goes to show how the technology is infiltrating even the most unexpected places, like the Louisiana woods, to buy alcohol.
