Most people don’t understand the absolutely massive amount of computational power needed if they really wanted a GameFi project that actually entertaining.

Everyone agrees that the main issue with GameFi is the fact that games are mediocre and mechanics are very simple. And while that’s 100% true, the main reason behind it is the fact that an actually entertaining Ethereum-based game need a whole lot of computing power, and blockchains in general (especially Ethereum) are known to sweat when it comes to mass production of NFTs.

Regardless of whether you think NFT games actually make sense or not, if it were for the scalability issues that come along with this concept, we would have already had some relatively entertaining games (at least compared to the ones we have right now)

I’m pretty sure as Ethereum keep introducing updates though, we’ll start seeing an improvement in that regard.

Some gaming centered Ethereum rollups are starting to pop up like the Mantle Network. They’ll be helping to improve upon community lead gaming (which in my opinion is the selling point behind GameFi when compared to regular gaming since the community gets to be in full control.

I also remember seeing UbiSoft help launch a gaming L2 called Myria back in August, but haven’t seen any updates on it since.

For some people, GamFi makes no sense and I get where they’re coming from considering that conventional gaming is just fine. But I’d personally like to see where 100% community lead gaming would lead us.

We’ve still never had a popularized game where every single decision is made by the community. It would be rather interesting to see especially considering that Vitalik’s work on Ethereum was inspired by a centralized decision made in a game.
