When I first told my dad about Bitcoin years ago he disregarded it entirely as 'fake and worthless imaginary money that's destroying the environment'. Every couple of years when visiting home I would bring up the topic and his mind was made up that there were no benefits to Bitcoin's existence.
He was a hard sell but I was persistent. I first had to get him to read the Bitcoin standard and then sit down with him as we debated back and forth the bull case for Bitcoin, showing charts for the halving cycle, diminishing coin supply on exchanges, as well as reiterating the many problems with central banking and the rampant devaluation of fiat currencies. It was a long battle but I managed to win him to our side. After his hardware wallet arrives he's going to lump sum 50% and DCA the rest over the next 6 months until he owns his goal of 1 coin. He's got a relatively large investment portfolio so if Bitcoin goes to zero it won't affect our relationship or hurt his overall financials.
I'm really happy for him. He's 75 years old and this experience gave me hope that the older generation can absolutely grasp something as radical as Bitcoin if it's explained thoroughly enough.
