I sold half my bitcoin to pay off debts, buy an engagement ring, and fund our wedding next summer. I couldn’t be more happy!

Reading others moon stories has been a real blessing as it gave me the wisdom to realize some people’s Lambo is a Minivan filled with laughter and love.

And who knows, maybe in another five years it will pay for a house and future college tuition.

To those that would wait to sell: Financial freedom means not being controlled by finances.

To those the would never marry: It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

To those that congratulated me: Thank you!

To those that are afraid to sell now for something they want: We are not promised tomorrow.

To clarify a couple things: I have been selling over the last couple weeks. I have considered the taxes.

I’m getting married in China, so the wedding will be a financial net positive. The amount I’m spending on the wedding will realistically 5x+ with the cash gifts we receive. What bitcoin gave me was the capital to have a baller wedding with no sweat and gain a lot of face with family and friends. You’d have to understand Chinese culture to truly appreciate what this means.

As for the ring: I’m buying Alexandrite, which only increases in value due to its very finite supply. And on top of that, I’m totally overjoyed to be able to spoil the most incredible person I’ve ever met.

Bitcoin will always be higher in five more years. When I took all things into account, I believe there is a 50% chance that we have hit the ATH for this cycle and took the opportunity to sell on what might be a dead cat bounce. If I’m wrong, that’s fine. But, I can’t risk my happiness for “more” money. Real financial freedom is not being controlled by finances.
