Hello! Today I will be talking about a scam that has been around for quite some time originating from China. Pig butchering scams originated in China, where they came to be known by the Chinese version of the phrase shāzhūpán because of an approach in which attackers essentially fatten victims up and then take everything they’ve got. These scams are typically cryptocurrency schemes, though they can involve other types of financial trading as well. So here how it works:1) You need a desperate person to be scammed : For my sister in law, she is desperatly looking for a partner so she has been in dating apps looking to get soon kids as time is ticking. In her case she met this guy online that seems to be hyper busy and traveling everywhere so they can only meet via chat or sometimes through pre recorded messages. Now another common way is that a girl sends you a whatsapp but you have never heard of HIM and he will start a conversation and mention quite quickly crypto 2) The scammer needs to figure out what will trick you, for my sister in law it was the biological clock and the easy money. So the scammer carried on with the rewards you can get by just putting money on the platform. Of course the website seems leggit and why would anyone spend weeks talking to someone if this person was a scammer (because it is profitable duh!) 3) The desperate person puts some money in this crypto platform and here we goooo. Because you see crazy returns, you just want to put more . You are HOOKED. My sister in law fell for it and thought all was good, even bragging about it 4) The desperate person wants to withdraw the gains : Now it gets interesting because people gets fooled and when they want to get the money back they have to pay .... TAXES This is the last nail in the coffin, people just send more money to pay for taxes relative to the fake earned money and VOILA! The scammer Exit with all the money from the fake website or crypto platform that you willingly sent! If this happened to my sister in law, it can also happen to your family, it is important thatif you notice some weird behaviour from your family and friends, you act and stop the nonsense before it is too late! So here is the short advice to not get scammed :1) do not reply to whatsapp you dont know 2) If the person keep mentionning how much they made , it is probably a scam 3) Someone showing you how to trade, that does not smell good I hope you have learned something from this scam and can stop another one if you suspect it! ANd if you can give other advice on this thread do not hesitate! EDIT: Explained the origin of the pig butchering scam [link] [comments] |
