⚠️New Elaborate Coinbase Scam By Fellow Americans

There’s a new elaborate Coinbase scam by fellow Americans. They knew my name, email, and phone number - likely from the Ledger hack that leaked all of our personal info (screw Ledger; never buy Ledger).

They will send a text message saying:

Coinbase: We detected a login from Salt Lake City, Utah. If this was not you, please reply with "N" to lock your assets.

I went along to see how their scam worked. When responding “N” they will reply:

Coinbase: There was a withdraw initiated from a flagged IP Address. Due to the sensitive nature of irrevocable cryptocurrencies, a Coinbase representative will call you shortly.

They then call you and have you reset your password on a fake “unblock-CB" website. It's usually Indian and middle-eastern scammers, but now there are American scammers that speak perfect English. He sounded very white.

They have a good script they follow, telling you that it’s on a recorded call for training purposes. They’re knowledgeable about crypto and they ask if you had connected to the CoinTracker API, and if not, he would remove the connection. This guy acts like he knows his stuff.

In the fake https://unblock-coinbase website, I changed my password to LMAOnicetrydipshitscammer1! and when he read it from his end, he hung up the phone immediately. I was able to waste 20 minutes of this guy’s time. Don't fall for this shit, folks.
