(Not financial advice) To all the people asking “Should I sell (insert thing) and buy Bitcoin?”…

…unless you’re asking these questions just to farm karma points and/or you’re just lonely and need some attention, let answer it the best way I can. Remember, this NOT financial advice, but just how I see things.

Imagine if we weren’t talking about Bitcoin but something else (say Swiss Francs), then the question sounds a bit silly. “Should I sell my wife and children and buy Swiss Francs?”. Why would you plough everything you own into one single thing? That doesn’t make sense for ANYTHING, even Bitcoin. I remember reading about some Dutch bloke who sold everything he and his family owned and invested the money into Bitcoin. Because he even sold the house, they lived in a tent. That story made me SO angry that someone could be so irresponsible. Bitcoin is great and everything, I own some myself, but we’re also human beings with lives of our own. We need a roof over our heads, we need steady incomes, we need food on our tables. Bitcoin is not the be all and end all. It is an investment like anything else and needs to treated as such. Do loads of research, figure out what you can afford to lose and be responsible. When people do crazy stuff like selling investment properties (which yield a good return) and plough the lot into Bitcoin (or worse, other cryptocurrencies!) it just gives a bad impression to people on the outside looking in. I wouldn’t want to be a part of a scene like that!

So, please, don’t go crazy with Bitcoin. If you are that way inclined, buy some, hold it, hell, even spend it. But don’t make it your entire life…
