Not sure if I am missing the point but why are we arguing FOR regulations of "decentralized" currency?

All Cryptocurrencies

I am not certain if I am misunderstanding the point of some posts I have seen on this sub defending further intervention by the government on these "decentralized" currencies. No matter what your justification, whether it be avoiding scams, preventing fraud or laundering, it is antithetical to the classic selling point/ideals of crypto: a pseudo-anonymous, decentralized, free market currency. (I understand that most crypto is in no ways anonymous. KYC and existing crypto regulations already dampened that, and simple op sec using public transfers can de-anonymize clean wallets. Most exchanges also violate your privacy to load any amount of funds and are owned by centralized companies.) I am not sure if it has become so popular that bastions of the original benefits are muffled out by gov shills or they just don't speak up.

Honestly there is no good reason for any more interference from deep pocketed politicians unless we want to start calling it centralized currency.

To clarify I do not interact with crypto very often and wouldn't mind an explanation if the landscape has changed from when I first was into it.

Also Monero ftw.
