Hi all! I posted a few months back about Octant, a new project from Golem Foundation. We just hit a really exciting moment in our timeline with our first funding window now here.

Golem Foundation staked 100,000 ETH and turned the rewards over to Octant. Anyone who locks GLM into the Octant contract can claim and/or donate ETH staking rewards that come from our solo staking setup. This round we have 24 public goods projects participating, and you can see them all on the app: Octant.app

A short summary about Octant is that every 3 months if you lock 100 GLM or more, you'll be receiving a proportional ETH reward relative to our total supply. Users can choose to keep rewards for themselves, but the matching pool leverages any donation, so your money goes further if you donate it vs. keeping it. 329 ETH will be going to users and public goods this round, with at least 228 ETH going specifically to public goods projects.

Of course, there are tradeoffs with any mechanism design, but the reason we are really excited about this project is that we feel it embodies sustainable rewards. You only need to lock in once to keep receiving, and you have the freedom to unlock your funds and move on at any time.

Would love for anyone interested to take a closer look at our docs: docs.octant.app and join the conversation in our Discord. We are still early on in our process and are always looking to improve. Cheers!
