Talking only about smart contract coins here, I only believe Ethereum, layer 2 coins for Ethereum, and certain tokens on Ethereum have a future. Every other smart contract platform (the "Ethereum killers") will ultimately trend toward 0 in the long term.
Network Effect and Decentralization are the most important aspects here. Of which Ethereum has the best (minus Bitcoin). No other coin comes close. All these other smart contract platforms like ALGO, SOL, or whatever else may be faster or cheaper but sacrifice decentralization for this. As we have seen in 2018, all these "Ethereum killers" (like NEO or EOS from then) are basically poop now. I think this will happen to all the smart contract platforms here today (maybe all but one).
Notice how Bitcoin Cash, Nano, LTC, or whatever else even with cheaper fees never flipped Bitcoin. This will also be the case for Ethereum.
No matter what you say about fees, once this gets fixed with sharding, there is literally no reason to use another smart contract platform with inherently weaker security and decentralization.
