Orange pilling & onboarding - a case report

Dear all, I quickly wanted to share with you one of my experience I made the last two days.

There are many people out there who are already sympathetic to Bitcoin but are afraid or clueless of how to really use it in a practical way or even just how to buy/invest.

They are afraid of the registration process involved at an exchange, the creating of a non-custodial wallet, the money transfer from your bank to the exchange, the trading/buying process, the on-chain transaction and so...and it would take some time (sometimes days) to walk them through all of that (not even mentioning DEXs).

So during the past 2 days I found a way which helped already 3 people to jump though the hoops in minutes:

I just tell them to show them an easy way how they can use Bitcoin to buy at their local grocery store and usually people start to get excited!

That's what I do:

1. Ask them to download the phoenix wallet
2. Write down the seed and keep it secret
3. Send me a ln invoice/ show qr code
4. I send them 10000 sat from my ln-node via the Zeus app

At this point people are already amazed how fast and easy everything was!!

Then I tell them:

1. Download bitrefill
2. Check out all the stores there, what do you like? Hey look there is one of our biggest grocery stores!
3. PayPal me a small amount of money so that I can send you more satoshis and you can get yourself a gift card.
4. I send them more sats to their phoenix wallet via ln
5. They enter the email address at bitrefill, creat an ln invoice with my help at bitrefill and then they already transfer the sats to bitrefil within seconds with a little of help.
6. They discover that they get 1% Cashback in sats and get even more excited
7. Bitrefil sends the gift card within seconds to their email address, they unseel the card and are shocked how easy this was.

During the last 24 hours 3 people who had nothing to do with lightning have now a first glimps of what is possible and have some necessary tools already installed on their smartphones.

Of course I do not know whether or not they will now dive in deeper, but it was an amazing experience for me and I believe also for them.

A different world is possible guys. Fix the money fix the world! Stack sats and stay save.
