A bit over a year ago Luna collapsed. In response to this CZ tweeted that he was "poor again" and referenced the near 1.6 Billion in LUNA which Binance held which went to zero. Ironically, Binance had seen around 4 Billion in withdrawals after FTX collapsed and around 4 Billion in the past month coming out from their SEC lawsuit and seem to be functioning fine after both. That is to say that losing 1.6 Billion, while not preferred, is nothing to them.
It's ironic though because Binance indirectly sort of supported/endorsed LUNA and UST as the tokens were listed in Binance and obviously did so through LUNA purchases. It is fairly unclear whether the Billions in LUNA actually belonged to Binance or customers or some combination of both.
Of course however, CZ is doing fine without the 1.6 Billion regardless and the tweet can only been seen as a means of attention-seeking and potentially to seem more relatable to the everyday person who lives paycheck to paycheck and who may have just lost everything although it's a very poor attempt at that.
There was no sympathy from him, no accountability for Binance's own poor financial decision, just a really out-of -touch tweet that's all about him and his own ego. These guys aren't and will never be our friends.
