People who are in crypto "not for the money" - what does it mean?

It seems that there is two kind of crypto people, those who see it as an investment and hope to get some monetary gains out of it. Then there are some which say they are in for the technology.

While I agree that blockchain tech is fascinating (and sometimes contradicting and confusing), I would like to get examples of crypto holders who are not invested in it for monetary reasons.

I can imagine one group of people being developers themselves, of course I can believe their fascination for the topic.

Do you have other examples or user groups?
