I was on etherscan today and was looking at the tokenUris for the metadata of mutant apes. I noticed that they link to the board ape yacht club website (presumably centralized) but that the uri to the actual image file in the metadata goes to IPFS (decentralized). What is the reason for this? Why is it ok for the metadata to be centralized but not the actual asset? If the bored ape website goes down won’t all the nfts be lost?
