Question on phishing links

I see so many posts where people get scammed by clicking links and giving permission to sign smart contracts I guess?

My question is how do you protect yourself when u need to sell or transfer assets? I have 90% of my assets in cold storage hw wallets, and the other staked on a non custodial.

I've never sold, only accrued but my plan would be to send a little to Coinbase, verify then send rest swap to USDC put in bank account.

Since I've never done this where does the phishing or scamming come in during this transaction? What can I look out for to protect my assets.

I feel that people get tricked by simple things and I don't want to be one of them

Please check my math and let me know if this is the best course
