Found an interesting site to track statistics of different subs on reddit.
As of today r/cryptocurrency is:
1) 110th in subscribers
2) 11th in number of comments per day (!)
3) 29th in posts per day
4) 881st in the number of upvotes in the top yearly and monthly lists(?)
5) 64th in comments on top yearly/monthly posts
The amount of comments and posts is way above expected, but the number of votes is extremely low at the same time.
Is this because moons lead to a very high number of low effort posts/comments that don't get many votes because of the low effort, or because moons lead to people being more reluctant to upvote even good content they enjoy? Maybe it's a mix of both. Admittedly the relative lack of upvotes could be a result of other factors (like memes being banned) as well, who knows.
Do you guys find this problematic for the sub, or is it a good way to filter out the trash so to speak.
As a bonus list of subs with a significant overlap in user bases with cc, might help you see where people are coming from:
