I received this email today from Coinbase. If you're in Canada it's another reason to get your coins off Exchanges
----------------------
Dear Customer,
Starting on April 4, Coinbase will introduce some changes required by Canadian regulations. Specifically, when you send crypto to another financial entity or money services business (such as another cryptocurrency exchange), and the transaction is 1000 CAD or more, we are legally required to ask you for information about the recipient of that transaction β their name and address.
For more information, please visit the Q&A here.

OK I get it. Exchanges like Coinbase, Crypto.com, Gemini, Kraken, etc etc have to follow the rules. Im sure there are lots that don't agree with these rules but for better or worse it's the playing field and these organizations have agreed to play by these rules. Do I think it's bullshit. Fuck yeah. If I make a bank transfer from my account to someone else I don't have to provide this information. So why is crypto being targeted? That was a rhetorical question by the way.
Solution? Don't don't ever transfer more than $999. Temporary fix but it's a fix nonetheless. For for now I'm going to gradually start moving my funds off any place that tells me this.
