Hello everyone,

long time lurker and first time poster. I wanted to share some recent experience about a very long winded scam that I ran into. The reason why I want to put it up online is because the reason that I avoided the scam was a reddit article about some other scam - I saw the similarities and woke up!

I live in Central Europe and I was expecting for some english speaker to get in touch with me, so I wasn't suprised when a british number messaged me on WA out of the blue. After some intial confusion a fairly decent story about mixed up numbers and her being from Hamburg materialised. (I call and message a lot of new people every day so I am used to noting down a number wrong and waking up a disgruntled old lady somewhere in a cottage haha)

I fancied a chat tbh so I talked and when she mentioned a that this is her work number and if I can add her private (German) number I wasn't all that suspicious. I thought that my wit and charm generated a friend in a random world. We talked a bit, exchanged photos (I sent her one with my gf, so that she wouldn't get any ideas, lol) and yes, it was nice that a stranger was taking an interest in me. Looking back I think she was just getting info together.

I was suspicious, but I also have two numbers in different countries so I moved past that. I asked if she was real and she responded with a video of her and her two dogs (she mentioned them the day before) in bed. Some goodnights and goodmornings later and her being nice to me, my suspicion was gone...

..and that's the time the selling/shilling started. She knew enough stuff about me to pull a bit at my heart strings and started selling me on an amazing lifestyle. She is doing well for herself with what I would consider risky investments into no name coins. It all comes from her cousin who mines oil and hangs with Quataris. That's why he has insider knowledge and gives her all these tips. Now remember, her and I are friends and she wants me to do well so she starts talking about risk free ICOs and sharing screenshots - then a link to a website where I can learn about them and put my money there...

...but don't you want to make money? I thought you wanted me to tell you...

Yeah, right love..jesus, so if you are googling an obscure ticker or a god forbid a dodgy clone website of some well known bad actors, it will just take your money, I hope that the engine picks up this post and stops you in your tracks.

IF

1) the coin is only on that website

2) it's a friendly stranger telling you about it

3) sure tip for a 10x etc. etc. etc.

and even if it all just came very slowly and naturally from a person who has been talking to you for a while now...and yes I know you are all probably very clever and would have spotted it immediately, but that is exactly what I thought. It took a big oh shit moment for me to see how much I have dipped my toes into dangerous waters before I finally skiddadled.

So if any of these are the case, please run and don't look back. I wasted some of my time on train journeys but luckily no money. I hope you won't loose either now. Peace.
