Right now Rogers is having major network issues in Canada. They advertise having the most reliable network and are one of the biggest providers in North America... but they've been down for hours.
Interac is supposed to be its own thing; it is the way we can send fiat to people, usually quickly and most of the time without fees (they are built in to your bank plan). One would think that Rogers having issues would not shut down my access to money in my bank ... but no!
I don't even use Rogers for my internet or my cell phone ... I thought this would just affect Rogers customers, but no - all debit transactions in Canada are down. Bank machines are frozen too, as a result of this, and a lot of people are scrambling right now. How can ONE COMPANY going down stop so many people from accessing their money!!?
